Karachi is located in the northwest part of the Indus River Delta, adjacent to the Arabian Sea. It is the capital of Sindh Province, the largest city and the largest seaport and naval base in Pakistan. It is a national center for industry, commerce, and finance, as well as an international aviation hub connecting Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. From 1947 to 1959, it served as the capital of Pakistan and is one of the most populous cities in the world and one of the top ten metropolitan areas. Karachi is also home to large Pakistani enterprises. There are numerous tourist attractions in Karachi, with the historic city of Thatta, located 100 kilometers southeast of Karachi on the banks of the Indus River, being particularly famous. Clifton Beach is also a popular recreational destination.
