Almaty
Almaty is the largest city in the Republic of Kazakhstan, located near the southeastern border with China and Kyrgyzstan. The city covers an area of approximately 682 square kilometers, and as of 2017, it had a population of around 1.797 million. Almaty is a city of historical significance. In 1991, the Almaty Declaration was announced here, declaring the cessation of the Soviet Union. Almaty is also a financial and educational center of Kazakhstan and was once known as the "Apple City" due to its abundant apple production.
